If you’ve ever been interested in getting involved in a beauty competition—now is the time! If you think you don’t have the time or aren’t good enough, read on to find out why you should enter.
Pure fun
If you’re bored of your everyday routine and want something to strive for, this is it! These competitions can be grueling and will require hard work and dedication but can be the most fun you’ve had. Competitions allow you to be creative and showcase your skills, while also improving your skills.
Creativity
These competitions don’t judge hair alone; they’re judging the total package you present. Depending on the type of competition you enter—whether live or by submitting a photograph—you get to choose all the aspects of the model including makeup design, clothing, and nail art. The model is your canvas, and unlike your clients, you can do anything you want!
Confidence
Any competition can be stressful and requires a lot of confidence, but after a competition, your confidence will increase immensely. This is especially true for new stylists that want to be innovative but are just starting out. Being around the other competitors, alone, will increase your confidence and inspire you to become better in your craft.
How great would it be to tell your clients that you participated in a competition, or that you’ve won? Clients are always looking for the latest and greatest in the industry, and just the fact that you entered a competition shows them you are continually striving to be the best. The next time a competition presents itself, don’t be scared. Give it a shot! This industry relies on you to be unique and create beauty; this is the chance to demonstrate that. If you do find yourself inclined to compete, make sure you do your research and know what is expected of you.
