This course will focus on evidence-based examination and management of selected post-operative pathologies of the shoulder. A brief review of clinical anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder will be presented to help participants incorporate functional anatomy into their reasoning process.
Pathomechanics, mechanisms of injury, and surgical procedures will be discussed for rotator cuff tears and capsulolabral repairs. Evidence-based features of the examination will be reviewed, as well as a discussion on therapeutic exercises and manual therapy interventions for commonly encountered post-operative pathologies of the shoulder.
Demonstration of manual therapy and therapeutic exercises while incorporating a clinical reasoning framework will be presented. Post-operative management strategies will be implemented with a review of protocol based therapy applied within a patient-centered framework and clinical reasoning process.
